Robert A. (Bob) Archer, 75, of Brady, passed away on April 12, 2019, in Kerrville, at Sid Petersen Memorial Hospital. He was born in Brady to Vera and W.T. Archer on April 7, 1944. Bob graduated from Brady High School in 1962 and attended Odessa Junior College on a golf scholarship.
Bob was an avid golfer. His golf team won the NJCAA National Championship in 1963 and 1964. He attended Texas A&M in the fall of 1964 and spring of 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 until 1970 when he returned to Brady and graduated from Howard Payne University.
Bob worked for the State Comptroller for several years and then worked for Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas before returning to Brady in 1990 where he had been residing until his passing.
Bob always had a smile on his face and he enjoyed bending an elbow with friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and W.T. Archer. He is survived by his brothers, Bill Archer and wife, Sandra, of Cedar Creek, and Ted Archer of Millersview; one nephew, Tom Underwood of Ballinger; and a host of cousins.
A graveside service will be held on May 2 at 2 p.m. at the Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Heart of Texas Historical Museum or the Richland Springs Cemetery Association. Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba is in charge of arrangements.
