By James Stewart Despite the week of less-than-ideal weather, Live Oak Trade Days organizers are betting on the odds (and the weather forecasters) and have scheduled their fourth official Trade Days event this weekend. This month, the event made its official switch of when it is held. Beginning this weekend, the monthly event will be held the last weekend of each month. “This will hopefully help us avoid some scheduling conflicts later in the year,” said Bill Derrick, co- organizer of the event. “We have been picking up new vendors each month and the idea seems to be catching on. We are the only place around that has an event like this and with it being hyped as a family-friendly activity, we expect to see the Live Oak Trade Days continue to expand and become even more popular throughout the year.” According to Derrick, they are welcoming and encouraging local vendors. “It is an idea that has the main goal of bringing folks to Brady to shop as the driving force behind it. For that reason, we really want to encourage local businesses to participate as well.” Already scheduled for attendance will be a number of arts and crafts booths including handmade furniture, food and an eclectic variety of vendors. “We want to make this family oriented,” said Derrick. “Pets are welcome, bring your kids and enjoy the live entertainment by Lost Creek.” Live Oak Trade Days will be held from 9 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. this coming Saturday on the west side of Hwy. 87 South near the Hwy. 71 intersection south of Brady.
