Strong second period boosts Lady Bulldogs to solid 53-29 victory

Following the lead of the Brady JV squad, the Varsity Lady Bulldogs took advantage of a second quarter opportunity to build a lead the visiting Lady Bobcats could not overcome. The Lady Bulldogs handed the visiting team a sound 53-29 thumping to put their district opener in the books as a win. Using four quarters of solid play, the team opened things up in the second as their defense stiffened and held Comfort to a measly three points. On the other end of the court, the Lady Bulldogs continued to rack up points, posting 16 in the second, to give them a 26-11 lead at the half. “We did a good job tonight, playing for four quarters instead of two or three,” said coach Matt Odom. “On offense, we had solid play from both our guards and posts and on defense we held their top two players to a combined nine points. ” It is nice to get that first district win, but we have nine games left and we’re going to approach them one at a time.’In this district there are no ‘easy’ games for us, or for anybody else either.” Score by quarters: Brady 10 16 12 15’53 Comfort 8 3 9 9’29 Scorers for Brady: Michelle Owens 7, Talisha Hendley 4, Red Patterson 2, Meme Patterson 6, Adrianna Villarreal 10, Kayla Land 4, Kristin Rice 13 and Prenessia Williams 7.
