It was all Brady from the get-go Friday night when the Brady Lady Bulldogs Junior Varsity squad hosted the Comfort Bobcats for their district opener. Brady cruised to a lop-sided 48-10 victory on their home court and began district play with a strong and postive note. What started out with a 9-2 run by the JV ladies exploded in the second as the visitors struggled offensively and only managed a free throw during the entire second stanza. Meanwhile, Brady posted 12 more points to take a 21-3 lead at the half. The second half was much the same for the young Lady Bulldogs. Brady’s offense seemed to score handily while the defense kept Comfort paralyzed for all but a few moments during the final period. “We got off to a very good start in district,” said coach Leslie Jones. “The girls came out and played very good defense and were able to capitalize on steals and turnovers. We went to the basket much better tonight and I think the girls are beginning to feel more confident in their ability to score.” Score by quarters: Brady 9 12 10 17’48 Comfort 2 1 1 6’10 Scorers for Brady: Courtney Humphreys 4, Jordan Washington 2, Krystane Estes 8, April Longoria 1, Brittany Hill 15, Jennifer Moran 13, Nadia Ayala 4. The JV squad will travel to Junction tonight (Tuesday) for their next contest.
