March primary draws names on local ballots

The deadline for filing for the March 4 primary for individual parties ended Wednesday and several individuals have put their names on the ballot for the March 4 primary. Democratic candidates for the primary will include Pat Clifton for County Commissioner Pct. 3 and Felipe Bernal Jr. for Sheriff. Judy Mitzel and Joe Sanchez are vying for the post of McCulloch County Democratic Chairman. The following individuals filed for a place on the Republican primary ballot. Joe Johnson has filed as incumbent for Commissioner, Pct. 1 and is being challenged by Jim Quinn for the commissioner seat. ‘ Nelson Solsbery,’incumbent for commissioner of Pct. 3 has also drawn an opponent in James (J.P.) Murray, Jr.’Mark Marshall filed as incumbent for County Attorney as did Earl Howell for Sheriff as incumbent and Treva Colen as Tax Assessor/ Collector incumbent. Applications for ballots by mail can be sent in between Jan. 4 and Feb. 26. The last day to register to vote in the election is Feb. 4 and early voting will begin Feb. 19.
