Arthur August Probst, 99, of Brownwood, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, in Brownwood. A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. He was born July 1, 1908, in Katemcy, to Alfred and Emilie (Otte) Probst. He and Dorine Eckert were married April 1, 1934, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mason. He was a farmer/rancher and a member of First United Methodist Church. He loved his horses and his dog and continued to ride his horse after his retirement until he lost his eyesight. Survivors include a son, Norman Probst and wife, Marian, of Early; a grandson, Darrell Probst and wife, Carolyn, of Bryan; and a great-granddaughter, Macey Probst of Bryan. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Probst and wife, Mary, of Brady, and their children, Diane, Judy, Richard and families; a niece, Ruby Brookshire of Andrews; a sister-in-law and niece, Elsie Watters and Robert Watters of Abilene; a sister-in-law, Virginia Eckert of Austin; a nephew, Arliss Eckert and wife, Janice, of Fort Worth; and several great nieces and nephews.
