Our’Dec. 4 meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Commander Clayton Moore.’ Acting Officer of the Day Paul Cude prepared the room for the salute to the colors and checked membership cards. Acting Chaplain’Weldon Smith’offered the opening prayer. Commander Moore led all members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and read the ‘Open for business purposes and objectives statement for the VFW.’ Roll call of post officers was conducted, and’five officers were absent.’Eight’members were in attendance. There being no prepared minutes from the’November meeting, Commander Moore paraphrased the minutes explaining that the post adjutant was not in attendance at the November meeting to take notes. Comrade Len Westra’provided both the post financial report and the Bingo financial report and both reports were accepted as read. ‘Acting Chaplain’Smith offered a prayer to the VFW Children’s Home. Members discussed, at length, the possible impact the proposed Brady Water Park will have on the VFW Post properties.’ During the November meet-ing,’the city mayor’visited with members and explained the proposal for the Water Park.’ This meeting raised more questions than answers, and subsequent to the November meeting, Commander Moore visited with the mayor explaining the concerns of members.’ No definitive input has been provided members of the Post regarding our concerns. It was agreed upon by all in attendance at this December meeting that a formal notification to all members will be made once the city determines the direction it is heading in and what impact the project will have on the post. Members voted to donate $200 to Helping Hands for the 2007 Toys for Tots program. ‘Members also voted to donate $150 for the post’s Christmas card on the courthouse square. ‘The’next scheduled meeting will be Jan. 1, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. ‘Our meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. BINGO ‘The Post will not have Bingo sessions on Dec. 13 and 27. ‘We will, however, have Bingo Dec. 20, and at this session we will increase’the winning pot of the last game of the evening from the usual $400 to $500. Additionally, every game played Dec. 20 will have a wild number.’ ‘This will be a good time to win a nice sum that can be used for that last minute Christmas shopping.’ We’hope that everyone will bring along a friend to enjoy an evening out playing Bingo. We are located on Memory Lane, off U.S. Hwy. 87. Our games begin promptly at 7 p.m., and we usually have you on the way back home by no later than 8:45 p.m.’ Light snacks and soft drinks are served by the Ladies Auxiliary.
