The dinner offers local residents an opportunity to relax this Thanksgiving and enjoy an authentic home-cooked turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings, but without all the hassle and cleanup. Kathy and Arturo Gloria, owner of El Flamingo Restaurant, are once again hosting their traditional Thanksgiving dinner that is open to all members of the community. Served Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this marks the 12th year the Glorias have hosted this meal. The meal is free to everyone, but donations are accepted. Each year the money raised from the event goes to benefit a worthy cause in the local community with this years recipients being Sunset Center and Toys for Tots. Local people, as well as travelers and deer hunters, have responded well, and over the years the venture has continued to grow. Any homebound residents of Brady can call El Flamingo restaurant in advance at 597-0522 through Wednesday, Nov. 21 to request a delivery. In addition, any church or civic group who would like to make a donation toward the event’whether it be in the form of homemade desserts or monetary donations to help offset the Glorias’ expenses’are encouraged to contact them at the restaurant.
