Rotary Spokes

The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, Nov. 6 at noon at the Heart of Texas Depot Restaurant. Brady High School senior, Bailey Bozeman was present for her first visit. She is the daughter of Debra and Kenneth Groomes and has one brother, Seth. She is a member of Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Spirit Promoters Organization of Kooky Seniors (SPOOKS), Interact, Future Farmers of America where she serves as president, Famed Brady Bulldog Band where she is rifle captain and Abstinence program. She was honored at the Sports Banquet, National Honor Roll and multiple time livestock show placings. As of yet, she is undecided as to where she will attend college, but she plans on becoming an anesthesiologist. Student Rotarian, Jace Fincher, was present for his second visit. He informed the club of his hopes to go to the Naval Academy. Program Chairman Leisa Land introduced Marsha Neal and Brady Middle School Principal Eric Bierman. They discussed the student trip to Washington, D.C. taken by the middle school students. They have taken a chartered bus to San Antonio and then an airplane to Washington. The students raised $12,000 for the trip last year with 38 students participating at $1,200 per student. The next trip is scheduled for 2008. There will be no noon meeting on Nov. 13. The Brady club and the San Saba club will meet jointly at 7 p.m., Nov. 13 at the Heart of Texas Museum at the Central Tower building. The members and guests will be served supper there. The $2 bill was won jointly by Dayton Boren and Clair Whitesell for together saying that this Rotary District was originally number 584 and it now is 5840.
