BHS planning annual Veterans Day ceremony

Brady High School’s U.S. and World History classes, along with several high school student organizations and co-curricular classes (PALs, Student Council, Interact, art department, NHS, BCIS/Web Mastery, speech department and band) will again host the annual Veterans Day reception and honors program Monday, Nov. 12. All area veterans and active service personnel are invited to join in on this memorable occasion. ‘A reception which also includes any late registration will begin in the backstage and hallway of Brady High School at 9 a.m., and the program to follow will begin around 10:30 a.m. in the BHS auditorium. ‘”Brady High School wants to encourage everyone to register again as soon as possible,” said BISD teacher and program coordinator Chuck Bailey. “Last year’s registration is on file, but participants need to proofread the form ASAP for errors or changes.’ Copies are available for you to view at the VFW or’ BHS. All participants are still strongly encouraged to pre-register.” Again, Bailey is asking for all veterans to submit photos (in their service uniform) of themselves as soon as possible to the high school so they may scan and use them as part of the honors program.’Great care will be given to the photos, and they’ll be returned safely in a matter of days. They need your help and cooperation with this immediately. “Mike Trollinger, Clayton Wagner, Rick Melcer and Clayton Moore are offering their services in picking up, collecting and returning these photos. Please contact one of them if you need assistance or more information. “The BHS Veterans Day Program has grown in attendance, and we want to encourage all veterans, active military personnel, and their families to join us again this year and allow us to honor you.’ “The event’s success depends upon your participation in our ‘all student led’ program. If you know of any vets or active servicemen you might contact and invite, please do so.’ “Think about what friends or relatives you might encourage to come to our program. BHS wants to recognize all of those who are or who have courageously defended our country, today, and yesterday. ‘”Please remember, we need your military history as well as your uniformed photo to scan. They’ll be used as an important part of this year’s program. If you can, please arrive as early as possible so we can get your photo and service record and other details on a framed certificate. This will be presented to you during the program.” At the request of the local VFW, Brady High School is asking all veterans to consider wearing any branch medals or ribbons they may have obtained to the Veterans Day program (in uniform or not). ‘”Please honor the BHS students and faculty with your presence on Monday, Veterans Day Nov. 12,” added Bailey. “The Brady/McCulloch County community is invited. Thank you.”
