Vera Mae Archer, 88, of Brady, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in Brady. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs with Rev. Brian Wiggins officiating. She was born July 15, 1919, in Kerrville to S.P. Tomlinson, Sr., and Susan Bertha (Habermacker) Tomlinson. She and W.T. Archer, Sr. were married on Dec. 4, 1937, in Comanche. She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Brady High School and a homemaker. She was named Miss Heart of Texas 1937, member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Women’s Golf Association, Hospital Auxiliary, an avid bridge player and a member of First Christian Church She is survived by three sons, W.T. (Bill) Archer, Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Bastrop, Robert Archer and Ted Archer, both of Brady; a sister, Bertha Doran of Odessa; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Tomlinson of Brady and Ruth Archer of Hartford, Conn.; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, two brothers, S.P. Tomlinson, Jr. and Leo Edward Tomlinson. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Brady of the Richland Springs Cemetery Association.
