Clifton, Boswell take top spots in Goat Gallop 5K

The annual Goat Gallop 5K fun run drew another group of health-conscious competitors this year and returning champion Troy Clifton successfully defended his title while 15-year-old Jordan Boswell of San Angelo took over the overall top spot in the female division. Clifton, the son-in-law of Mike and Donna Rogers of Brady, is a competitive triathlete who finished the course with a time of 19:45. “I have an Olympic-distance triathlon in Austin on Monday, so I wasn’t trying to set any records,” Clifton said shortly after coasting across the finish line more than two minutes ahead of the next closest finisher. Boswell, a sophomore at San Angelo Central, is the granddaughter of Bill and Mickey Boswell of Brady. She finished the course with a time of 22:39 and crossed the finish line third overall behind Clifton and one other. “She came over from San Angelo just to run in this race,” said her grandmother shortly after the awards were presented.
