Cook-off dance to be held at G. Rollie White Complex

Brady’s World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook- Off is held each Labor Day weekend at Richards Park. It’s a 34-year tradition that has made Brady something to talk about. As the cook-off has grown, so have the events that accompany it annually. The dance, known far and wide as one of the top Texas music events, is sponsored this year by Joe Garza & Sons Fencing and the Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce. This year, three Texas artists, West Texas Hogg Maulies, Brandon Rhyder and Reckless Kelly will entertain the crowd at the G. Rollie White Complex in Brady. ‘We are excited to have this caliber of artists at our dance. They are all great Texas country music artists who bring their own style of Texas to the stage,’ said Wendy Ellis, community development director. West Texas Hogg Maulies hail from Lubbock and have established a loyal following. Their latest record, “Here to Stay,” is out in stores now. Brandon Rhyder is from Northeast Texas and has made his mark as an established songwriter. He recently signed with Harlan Howard Songs, Inc. and his live album was released Aug. 21. Reckless Kelly can be seen all over the United States, including Oklahoma, Wyoming and Oregon. “They have a country-rock sound that’s sure to get you up on your feet dancing,” said a spokesperson for Sugar Hill Records. ‘Whether they are performing originals or covers, the band puts plenty of heart into its twangy sound.” The dance will held under the pavilion at G. Rollie White from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and can be purchased at the Brady/ McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce office at 101 East First St. or by calling 325-597-3491. Tickets at the gate are $15. Concessions will be sold; however, coolers will be admitted for $5. All glass bottles will not be permitted.
