Playing like pros

The 17 golfers who came out to play Thursday, Aug. 16, all played like pros, that is, continuing to play with the rain coming down. Everyone was waiting for the other team to call and say “stop,” but no one did, so all four teams finished with their Saturday night showers behind them. It appeared that at least two were competing in the wet white T-shirt contest. No winner was declared. It was decided to play the back nine, and the team of David Graves, Scott Garner, Johnny Poe and Christie Searcy came in with a four-under par 31 for first place. Searcy also had the closest-to -the-pin on hole no. 15 with about a four-foot putt for birdie. Ruben Aguirre, Jay May, Bobby Williams, Cody Morgan and Bobbie Williams got second with a 32. A score of 33 by Jonathan Davis, Ted Morgan, Don Crooks and Janet Crooks was good for third. Jay Medrano, Peanut Owens, Raymond Torres and Jamye Graves got a 34 for fourth place. Our next tournament will be the Tres Amigos Sept. 8-9. I believe it is full, but if you want to play, call and get your name on the waiting list in case a team drops out. The hole-in-one is now up to $4,074. I have never made a hole-in-one, but a hully gully is the time for it to happen. Remember, we are now starting the hully gullies at 6 p.m, so be sure to call the pro shop at 597-6010 by 5:30 p.m. to get on the list. See you Thursday.
