Stephen P. Rockwell, 59, formerly of Brady, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, in Houston, from complications due to Lupus and Addison’s disease. A graveside service was held at 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6 at Rest Haven Cemetery, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. He was born Dec. 15, 1947, in Brady, to Clifton Paul and Martha (White) Rockwell. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in physical education and in 1972 obtained a Masters’s degree in business. While at TCU, he served as a student trainer. After completing his education, he moved to Houston and worked as a real estate appraiser and broker until his health declined. He was a member of the Texas Appraisers Association, and the Hibiscus Society, and was a member of the Memorial Drive Christian Church. He is survived by his mother, Martha Rockwell; numerous cousins including Dr. Ben White, Jack White, Patt Warren, Morris White, Betty Jackson, Jane Russell, Mary Helen Jeffers, Kenny Tidwell, David Rockwell, Richard Rockwell, Linda Rockwell, Sarah Panetski and Darlene Evans and their extended families; and a dear friend, Liz Lancaster and her son, Taylor. A memorial service will be held in Houston at a later date.
