Summer band practice begins early August

Band practice for the upcoming football season will begin Aug. 1 for incoming freshmen, as well as any new high school band students who have moved to Brady this summer. Practices will be held Aug. 1-3 beginning at 8 a.m. each morning for the incoming freshmen. These practices will be used to learn marching fundamentals and will last until 10 a.m. each day. Students should wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing because practice will be conducted outdoors the entire time. Practices will begin for all high school band students Aug. 6 at 8 a.m. Instruments will be needed, as well as tennis shoes. This week will consist of marching fundamentals, music rehearsal in sectional practices and full band rehearsals. The daily practice will be as follows: ‘ 8-10 a.m.’Marching practice ‘ 10:15-11:30 a.m.’Brass sectional ‘ 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.’Woodwind sectional ‘ 1:15-3 p.m.’Percussion sectional ‘ 4-5:30 p.m.’Full band rehearsal. “Because the first football game is so soon after school starts, these practices are absolutely necessary because the first drill will be learned before school begins,” said Famed Brady Bulldog Band Director Butch Crudgington. “This schedule will be used for two weeks of summer band.”
