The check says it all

For Ty and Taylor Sutton, a dream that became reality was a perfect example of what vision is all about. Ty’s Journey, an effort to help raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network in San Angelo, started out as an idea and became a community-wide fund raising campaign that helped raise more than $31,000 for the area children’s hospital. Shannon Medical Center is the home hospital for Children’s Miracle Network and the funds raised by Ty and his sister, Taylor, will be used to help kids just like them. Ty and Taylor themselves are both beneficiaries of the Children’s Miracle Network and its efforts to help children in a seven- county region that surrounds San Angelo. Friday morning, Monte Owens, manager of the local Keith’s Ace Hardware, presented Ty and Taylor with the oversized check that shows the amount raised by their dream that became reality. The funds were presented to Shannon Medical center during its annual telethon in June, but due to an unexpected stay in a Dallas hospital, the Suttons were unable to attend the telethon. ‘We received this mock check at the telethon and we wanted to be sure that Ty and Taylor were part of the honors,’ said Owens. ‘These two kids are amazing individuals and should be complimented for their efforts in making this extremely successful event such a success. Ty is headed back to Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas this week for pre-surgery preparations. He will undergo a surgery next week to help correct his scoliosis. Taylor is scheduled to have the same surgery later this year. ‘Ty and Taylore were extremely proud of how well the event turned out,’ said Gloria Sutton, Ty and Taylor’s mother. ‘They were very impressed that so many members of the community joined in their effort to help raise money that will benefit other children.’
