Starry, Leblanc exchange wedding vows in Houston

Caroline Elizabeth Porter Starry and Jared Gregory LeBlanc were married at the Chapel of St. Basil on the University of St. Thomas campus in Houston at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10. Father Ron Groeschen presided over the ceremony. Readers included the bride’s uncle, Tom Burkholder, the groom’s uncle, John Massey, and lifelong friend of the bride, Catherine Kraft. The ceremony’s music was provided by a student-led string quartet from Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. A cocktail buffet reception followed at the Cohen House, Rice University’s Faculty Club, with music by the Mambo Jazz Kings. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino.’ A luncheon honoring the bride, her bridesmaids, and bridesman was held earlier that day at the groom’s parents’ home and was hosted by the bride’s mother and stepmother along with the groom’s mother. Parents of the bride are Clara Louise Porter of Menard, Texas and Ronald and Melissa Starry of Fredericksburg, Texas. Grandparents of the bride are Frank and Lee Starry of McAllen, Texas and the late Betty and Wayne Porter of Menard. Parents of the groom are Drs. Robert and Rebecca LeBlanc of Houston. Grandparents of the groom are the late Jack and Myra Massey of Victoria and the late Maurice and Eloise LeBlanc of Houston. The bride wore a couture gown of her own design created by Lisette Lux Haute Couture of Houston. The ivory strapless Italian silk mikado gown featured horizontal pleats along a fitted bodice with a pleat-detailed mermaid skirt, designed to reflect the modern architecture of the Chapel of St. Basil. Caroline wore an unembellished, ivory, cathedral-length veil. Her bridesmaids wore two-piece floor-length satin gowns with ruched ivory strapless tops and black trumpet skirts. The groom, groomsmen and bridesman wore basic two-button, black tuxedos, with black long neckties. The bridesmaids carried light pink bouquets of peonies while the bride’s bouquet included white and pink peonies and deep pink ranunculus. The groom, groomsmen and the bridesman wore deep pink ranunculus boutonni’res. The reception was decorated with Redbud tree branches from Caroline’s family hill country Pecan Spring Ranch. The branches were enhanced by black polished river stones in vases with black and ivory damask runners on the tables. Accompanying the bride as maid of honor was lifelong friend, Catherine Feather Kraft, of San Antonio. Bridesmaids were Sarah Emily Starry, sister of the bride, of College Station, Dr. Anna Noel Miller, cousin of the bride, of New York City, N.Y., Susan Kuehler Perkins and Alicia Mandola Clark of San Francisco, Calif., Elizabeth Burrus Isaly of Bellingham, Wash., Meredyth Dee Fowler of Austin, and Marit Mathilde Babin, Amy Olivia Burklew and Elin Bertelsen Jackson of Houston. Caroline’s bridesman was Hunter Doyal Martin of Houston. Special guests of the bride in attendance included Miriam Anise Miller, cousin of the bride, Brooke Banister Lyon, Michelle Wilson Smith, Diana Presley Greenberg, Hayley Prager Wilk, Tara Michelle Hays, Ashley McNutt Schroeder, Kelli Janacek Haas, Kelly Furr Black and Summer Blaise Melmed. Accompanying the groom as best man was lifelong friend, Patrick Arlington Fender, of Austin. Groomsmen were Charles Haywood Wehner of Austin, Christopher Pierce Radde, cousin of the groom, of Lake Charles, La., and Michael John Prather, Chad Wilson Dunn, Bryan Christopher Mitchell, Ryan Elliott King, Brad Christopher Bedwell, Thomas Eugene Jackson II and William Henry Stout, all of Houston. Caroline earned a Bachelor of Science degree in corporate communication from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She later earned a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. She is currently the membership manager at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. Jared graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and later earned his Juris Doctor, graduating Cum Laude from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Jared is currently employed as an attorney with the firm Buck, Keenan, Gage, Little, & Lindley in Houston. Following a honeymoon to St. Martin in the French Antilles, the couple resides in Houston with their dog, Bob Marley Starry LeBlanc.
