Will Baker became the newest employee of the City of Brady this week as he assumed the animal control officer position for the City of Brady, effective Monday morning. Baker will fill the vacancy left by John Russell, who is currently under medical leave, and Cory Morris, a National Guard reservist who was recently called up to serve in Iraq. Prior to the move to Brady, Baker worked in the seismic cable industry. He will be attending a week-long training seminar near Austin to acquire the necessary animal control certification required under the position. I’ve been hearing a lot about this town and wanted to make the move here,” Baker told the Brady Standard-Herald Monday afternoon. “When I heard about this job opening, I immediately put in for it.” Jason and Shannon Corbell, cousins of Baker, introduced him to the area. Baker grew up in the small community of Mertzon, west of San Angelo. Baker will be on the job Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be contacted through the Brady Police Department dispatch. Any animal-related issues or concerns should be directed to him by calling the Brady Police Department at 597-2121. “I really love the town of Brady, and I’m looking forward to meeting all of the people,” Baker said.
