Joella Merle Hendley, 88, of Brady, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Brady. A graveside service was held Monday, July 16, graveside, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Rev. Blake O’Dell officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. She was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Brady, to Jim and Pearl (Starnater) Jackson. She was a sales clerk at Perry Brothers for over 50 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and also worked for the Brady theaters after retiring from Perry Brothers. She also worked for the Heart of Texas Historical Museum for several years. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Hendley and wife, Lynda, of Eden and Duwain Hendley and wife, Velma, of Brady; a sister, Cleo Locklear of Brady; three grandchildren, Steve Hendley and wife, Cindy, of Brady, Timothy Hendley and wife, Kim, of Brady and Kathryn Vricella and husband, Paul, of Lake Buchanan; nine great-grandchildren, Michael Vricella, Marc Vricella, Matthew Vricella, Heather Poe and husband, Casey, Tiarra Wheeler, Talisha Hendley, Katy Hendley, Daniel McAnally and Jacob McAnally; and a great-great grandchild, Faith Poe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Preston Hendley on June 18, 1966; two sisters and four brothers.
