No longer a dream but a reality, Bradyite Maurice Mallow is now a published author. Her first book, which she co-wrote with Nancy Masters, entitled “Devoted to Writing,” is not just a book for writers, it’s a book that anyone can read and receive incouragement, inspiration, a laugh, a cry and a blessing. “I am so fortunate that Nancy asked me to co- author this devotional book with her as she is a much published author already,” said Mrs. Mallow. ‘My desire to write children’s stories began when I was teaching and reading stories to my students,” she said.'”A favorite was Charlotte’s Web. My favorite subject to teach was reading/ language arts.’ I thought that I would have a children’s book published first, but God had a different direction for me at this time’co- authoring the devotional book with Nancy Masters.” The book contains 70 devotionals filled with powerful spiritual discoveries, practical writing strategies and easy writing prompts that combine faith and fun to get anyone on the writing trail. These devotionals’written from their respective viewpoints’will encourage and excite, as well as entertain even the busiest reader. ‘Mrs. Mallow is a member of the Abilene Writer’s Guild, but because of the distance and nightly meetings, she usually attends two or three meetings each year.’ In addition, she is a member of an Internet writing support group (comprised mostly of AWG members), which she credits for helping her tremendously in pursuing’her writing attempts. Mrs. Mallow has won several writing contests and has had several devotionals featured on the Internet with an Abilene-based company. She retired after 21 years of teaching with Brady Independent School District. ‘Nancy Masters has also presented visiting author programs at the Brady Elementary School and is the only spokesperson to participate in multiple Ladies Luncheons, an annual event sponsored by the Brady First Baptist Church.
