Third annual Smoke on the Hill Championship Cook-off slated this Saturday at Richards Park

The Third Annual Smoke on the Hill Championship Cook-off will be held Saturday, June 23 at Richards Park in Brady.’ Contestants will be competeing in four categories including brisket, chicken, pork ribs and beans.’ In addition to the cook-off, there will be activities for the community to enjoy. There will be a JumpTime inflatable, a water slide and face painting for the kiddos. Adults can enter into the horseshoe or washer tournaments begining at 10 a.m. or take part in the Bingo games for prizes.’ In addition to the festivities will be several vendors offering everything from grilled shrimp, beverages and ice cream to vitamins and knife sharpening.’ Since its formation in 2005, the Smoke on the Hill Cook-off has chosen a different charity to donate its proceeds to. This year’s non-profit organization is The Haven, a family shelter which provides services to three counties including McCulloch, Menard and Mason.’ As a non-profit organization, the day-to-day operations are run by a limited staff and volunteers with the funding coming directly’from grants and donations.’ Space is still available for teams wanting to sign up for the cookoff as well as vendors.’For more information, contact Robert Selvera at 456-7683, Donna Jones at 456-5733 or Charles Jones at 597-3142.
