Earlier this month, the McCulloch County Commissioners Court appointed Ed Hernandez as the new county Veterans Service Officer. Duties of the officer will be to assist any county resident who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces or Nurses Corps of the United States. He will also assist orphans or dependents of a person eligible to file for benefits. The veterans service office is located at 114 West Main St. Hours have tentatively been set for Monday through Friday,’8 a.m. to noon. The office telephone number is 325-597- 2243. Hernandez, a four-year United States Air Force veteran, is a retired U.S. Postal Service employee.
