Oren Earl Cox, 81, of Rochelle, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, in Rochelle. Funeral services were held Monday, June 4 at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Barr officiating. Burial followed in Placid Cemetery. His grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers. Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Placid, to Oren Earnest and Beatrice Estelle (Moore) Cox, he married Sarita Dillard, May 29, 1961, in San Benito. He was a ground power mechanic for Northrop Worldwide Aircraft Services and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Rochelle Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of Rochelle; a son, Danny G. Cox and wife, Maureen, of Houston; two daughters, Allene Pennington and husband, Dan, of Pasadena and Sue Toler and husband, Tony, of League City; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Pennington and Catlin Pennington of Pasadena, Travis Toler and Jeremy Toler of League City and Gabriel Cox, Rachel Cox and Marisa Cox of Houston; and three sisters, Sadie Kilmer Cawyer and husband, J.R., of San Angelo, LaVern Huffman Smith and husband, Gerald, of Brady and Nell D. Smith of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial donations may be made to Gideons, the American Cancer Society or Hospice of San Angelo.
