Rachel Ann Fowler, 97, of Brady, died Friday, May 4, 2007, in Brady. Funeral services were held Monday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Revs. Blake O’Dell and Lance May officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Heritage Funeral Homes. Born Jan. 18, 1910, in Brady to Dannley and Idell Josephine (McShan) Cottrell, she married Harvey Harl Flowler on Jan. 18, 1935, in Brady. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1990. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church. She worked for the PTA for many years, was a phone operator, worked in Selective Service and helped in the nursery of the First Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was known for her cooking and baking and sold cakes and pies for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ann Smith and husband, Jim, and Vickie May and husband, Jay, all of Brady; a sister, Estell Williamson of Sugarland; a brother, Larry Wayne Cottrell of Richland Springs; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Jack Cottrell and H.D. Cottrell; and three sisters, Marjorie Moore, Grace Nell and Margaret Conger. Pallbearers for the service were David Smith, Alan Wheeler, Nelson Solsbery, Fowler Solsbery, Mackey Ranne and Joey Ranne.
