Three slots remain for annual Duffers’ scramble

The 16th Annual Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce Duffers Golf Tournament is coming up on May 12 and teams have only a limited amount of space left before the event is full. The tournament is limited to 14 teams and as of Thursday morning, only three spots were available. Teams are limited to five members at $50 a person. The tournament will include a lunch, several door prizes, and a hole-in- one contest. This year’s meal sponsor is Oglebay-Norton Industrial Sands and our hole-in-one sponsor is Allstate Financial. “The generous financial support by these chamber members helps make the tournament a great success,” said Chamber representative Christi Mays. Some other businesses that have agreed to sponsor our contests are the Sam McAnally Company, Brady Standard-Herald and From Head to Toe Day Spa. “New this year is a fun and exciting ‘Casino Hole,’ that you will have to see for yourself,” said Mrs. Mays. “There will also be a new twist to our prize drawing, in that even non-golfers can participate. “The scratch-off cards for the prize drawing are being sponsored by Commercial National Bank. The cards are $5 each or two for $8 and one of the top prizes offered will be two one- day passes to the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The tickets are good for admission May 25, 26, or 27. Scratch-offs can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office or at the tournament.” Top cash prize for the tournament will be $600 to the first place team, $350 to the second place team and $350 to the top Duffers score. Limited spaces for teams are still available. Teams can register to play at the Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce Office. Guest meal tickets will be for sale at the tournament or at the Chamber office for $5. For more information you may contact the Brady/McCulloch C of C at 597-3491.
