Brady girls’ golf team cops district title by 17 strokes over Comfort

The Brady girls’ golf team won the District 8-AA championship Monday while playing their second round in the two-day, 36-hole meet. The first round was at the Buckhorn course in Comfort on March 29, and the second round at the Hidden Springs golf resort at Harper on Monday, April 2. The Brady Bulldog golfers were third behind Sonora and Comfort. Whitney Neal won district medalist with a score of 90-93’183, beating the runner-up from Comfort by 17 shots. Laura Baskin took fourth place medalist scoring 99 -110’209, Carrie Lundgren was sixth place medalist, shooting 102-115’217, Brenna Sayles was 113-115’228 and Chandni Karia had a 151 -152’303. The team score was 837, and Comfort was second at 854. Brady boys’ A team took third place shooting a team total of 356-349’705, falling one shot behind Comfort’s team score of 704. Sonora fired a team total of 665 to win the district title. Brady’s Jamie Taylor was fourth place medalist shooting 85-83’168. Brantley King took 6th place medalist shooting 91-81. Both of these boys will advance to the regional tournament as district medalists. Jon Bradshaw shot 93-95’188, Trevor McBee, 178, and Chris Garner had a 96-94’290. Brady’s boys’ B team took fifth place at the district meet, shooting a team total of 404-385’789. Andrew Walker had a 87-88’175 for the eighth place medalist, Jake Long shot 90-95’185, Seth Bozeman, 105-88’193, John Morgan, 122-114′ 236, and Linden Lansford, 137-145’282. Both boys’ and girls’ teams would like to thank the Brady golf course for the generous use of their facility, both of the golf moms, Marsha Neal and Becky Long, for the snack bags and water, and to all those who gave support and words of encouragement. The regional tournament will be at Shady Oaks in Baird on April 23-24.
