HOT Memorial Hospital receives award from Concho Valley Workforce Development Board

The Concho Valley Workforce Development Board in San Angelo recently presented the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital the annual “Heart of Texas Workforce Award” during a regional economic development and business support luncheon/ meeting held Feb. 15 at the Ed Davenport Civic Center in Brady. The Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital provides in- kind support to lessen the cost to Central Texas College in maintaining a licensed vocational nursing program where the hospital plays a major role by hiring 40 percent of the program’s graduates at an average wage of $11.50 per hour. In addition to the assistance to the CTC-LVN program, the hospital contributes to the local economy through in-kind services, monetary contributions of $20,000 and $1.8 million dollars in payroll. “The Heart of Texas Hospital hires healthcare professionals that have been supported in training through Workforce Investment Act funding and Workforce Solutions of the Concho Valley,” said Mary Kay Kuss, director of planning and resource development for the Concho Valley Workforce Development Board. “The Healthcare Industry is one of seven industry clusters designated by the Concho Valley Workforce Development Board where Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital is a stakeholder in the workforce system and attends planning meetings concerning the workforce system and training for new and incumbent workers.”
