A mighty, destructive wind hit McCulloch County Saturday causing problems for everyone. With gusts over 50 miles an hour, two roofs in Brady were blown from their fixtures. The Brady Gospel Church, on the south side of town, lost portions of its roof, and Lou Alexander’s tax office also lost its roof. About 30 volunteers from several area churches pitched in Sunday. A full-fledged fire broke out Monday morning. One of the classroom wings sustained fire and water damage. Electricity in the city was out for approximately three hours on Saturday morning in various parts of the city. The annual Brady Relays was also hampered by the weather, but it continued never the less. Sunday dawned nice and sunny with calm breezes.
