David Jack Farmer, 86, of Brady and formerly of Odessa, died Sunday, Oct. 12, in Brady. Under the direction of Heritage Funeral Homes, a graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. in the Rochelle Cemetery, Rev. Kenneth Barr officiating. He was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Bowie, to Henry Lester and Serena Belle (Crook) Farmer. He married Dahlia Belle Gholson on Nov. 28, 1936, in Waurika, Okla. He was a welding supply salesman and a member of the Rochelle Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and loved working in his yard. Survivors include his wife, Dahlia Belle Farmer of Brady; a daughter, Sharron Ann Farmer Bishop and husband, Clinton, of Brady; a son, Coleman Farmer and wife, Jackie, of Moran; a sister, (Dora) Faye Givens of Franklin, Ga; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents; three sisters; and four brothers preceded him in death. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rochelle Baptist Church or West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
