Canned goods collection going well

The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 12 noon at the Caf’ on the Square. Student Rotarian Megan Griffith was present for her first visit. She is the daughter of Glenn and Karla Griffith. Some of her honors, awards and activities include student body president, Miss Heart of Texas, NHS vice president, Interact treasurer, Lions Honor Banquet, National English Merit Award, National Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, National Foreign Language Award, Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly, Homecoming Duchess, Student Council, Future Teachers of America, BHS mascot, DECA, SPOOKS, Student Chamber secretary, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Peer Assistance and Leadership. She has two siblings, Monica and Matthew Griffith, and is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. We are collecting canned goods to give to the McCulloch County Helping Hands Center. The Rotarians are participating well. Members were reminded that we put up flags Oct. 11, in observance of Columbus Day (and also Nov. 11, Veterans’ Day). The gift of the month was won by Mike Schaffner’a large Rotary note pad. The $2 bill was won by Dayton Boren for knowing that the first Rotary service project was a comfort station (public washroom) built in Chicago about 1906. Program chairman for Oct. 14 is Jenny Roberts: and for Oct. 21 is Jim Ricks.
