Thomas Jennings, 88, of Fredonia, died Monday, Sept. 8, in the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 11 at the First United Methodist Church in Mason, under the direction of Mason Funeral Home, with Rev. Pam Kilpatrick officiating. Burial followed in the Wagram Cemetery near Fredonia. He was born December 18, 1914, to James and Myra Hoskins Jennings. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1932. On July 4, 1937, he married Wilda Fay Ellison, also of Fredonia. A rancher most of his life, his ranch was recognized by the state of Texas as a Family Land Heritage for having been involved in the continuous ownership and operation of a family agricultural enterprise for more than a century. He was a member of the Fredonia Methodist Church until its closing, then he became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason. Survivors include his wife, two sons, J.W. Jennings, and wife, Louise of Menard and Gary Jennings and wife, Karen of Fredonia; a sister, Katherine Carson of Crane; grandchildren, James and wife, Sheri of Mesquite, Kelly of College Station, Moriah, Heather, Aaron and Gabriel of Fredonia and Pamela Courtney and husband, Preston; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Patrick and Christopher of Pearland; close personal friends, Don and Barbara Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Forest Hanson, Don Baxter, Marlin (Pug) Lange, Leslie Carson, Will Frey, Larry Simon, Roger Luckenbach and Todd Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
