Rochelle Study Clubkick off new club year

Members and guests of the Rochelle Study Club met on Monday, Sept. 8 at the Rochelle Community Center to begin a new club year. Decorations were all in fall colors which included potted plants, fruit baskets, vegetable baskets, and various other figurines, etc. Club president Jane Barr welcomed all those present. Rev. Kenneth Barr led table grace, then a delicious pot luck dinner was served by Sara Myers and her social committee members Margaret Draycott, Betty Knutson, Ila Mitchell and Betty Jo Myers. Treasurer’s reports were distributed to each member present by treasurer Betty Meyer. Yearbook chairman Eloise Ficke distributed the new year books. Chairman Ficke and others who helped put the book together were given applause for a job well done. President Barr announced that a sister club, Mason Bluebonnet Study Club, is having a style show on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Mason High School Auditorium with a $5 admission charge. The public is invited to attend. Guests were introduced as follows: Jack Selby, Ginger Gray, Erwin Barden, Alvin Roesler, Murray McCain, Roy Barton, Kenneth Barr, Ollie Myers, Willie Myers, P.D. Hendrix, Tom Bourbon, Jean Dale Knutson, and Clive Mench. New member Sue Glidden was welcomed to the club. JoAnn Dickson who joined during the summer break was welcomed to her first regular club meeting. Other members attending were Gloria Barr, Dolores Barton, Jane Bohls, Betty Bourbon, Margaret Draycott, Eloise Ficke, Winkie Hendrix, Betty Knutson, Vonne McCain, Betty Meyer, Ila Mitchell, Betty Jo Myers, Sara Myers, Linda Roesler, Billie Mae Smith, Susan Spires Barden, and Marguerite Stroeck. The next meeting will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Rochelle Community Center and will feature Cynthia Quinn on the subject of women’s health. Hostess will be Pat Baker, Susan Barden, Gloria Barr and Dolores Barton. September birthdays are Marguerite Stroeck on the 3rd and Doris Bryson on the 23rd. October birthdays are Jane Bohls on the 10th and Eloise Ficke on the 15th.
