With the approval of the City of Brady’s tax rate at 2.49 cents per $100 valuation, three of the taxing entities in the county have set tax rates. The Brady City Council actually lowered its tax rate in Wednesday’s meeting stating that the proposed budget could be met without the additional revenue that would be generated by the recent re-valuations of properties by the tax appraisal district. The board of directors of the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital is scheduled to meet in a special meeting Thursday, Aug. 28 at the hospital to discuss what rate should be adopted. The current hospital district tax rate is .14272. Brady Independent School District trustees adopted a tax rate Monday night of 1.656 which is slightly lower than last year. McCulloch County Commissioners adopted a rate of .4002 on Monday which was exactly the same as last year’s. The special county road and bridge tax will be considered Sept. 2 in a public hearing and will be adopted by the county commissioners after the hearing is held. The water district will be setting its tax rate in its Sept. 11 board meeting.
