Ellen Catherine Clampitt Burton, age 76 of San Angelo passed away Monday, Aug. 18, at her residence. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3355 West Beauregard, San Angelo, with her stepson Fr. Bob Burton co-officiating with Fr. Bill Daugherty and Fr. Bob Hedges. Catherine was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Cisco, to E.B. and Ruth Clampitt. She was married to Fr. H.R. (Bob) Burton for 24 years. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2001. Catherine worked along side her husband as he served Episcopal churches in Maui, Hawaii, Van Horn, across the Trans-Pecos and Brady. Their home was always open to friends and family wherever they served. Catherine was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Caudle Crow. She is survived by three sons, Robert Caudle and wife, Joyce, of Lovington, N. Mex., David Caudle and wife, Delpha, of Ballinger, and Thomas Caudle of Denver, Colo., a daughter, Ellen Everett and husband, Steve, of Huntsville; a stepson, Robert Burton and wife, Anne, of Miami, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of very special friends who shared her love of life and a good hand of bridge. The family requests that memorials go to The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd or the American Cancer Society.
