Lois Burnham Letbetter, 94, of DeLeon, died Friday, Aug. 15 in DeLeon. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with John Shero officiating. Burial followed at the Shaw Bend Cemetery. She was born Sept. 5, 1908, in San Saba, the daughter of Theodore Jasper Burnham and Mary Elizabeth (Goode) Burnham. Lois Burnham and William Anderson Letbetter were married in San Saba. He preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1989. She taught school for 32 years and was a member of the congregation of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Mullins and husband, Joe, of Comanche and Virginia Gifford and husband, Roy, of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; grandchildren, Debbie, John, Cindy, Billy, Gary Don and Suzy; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Burnham and wife, Jonell, of Cleburne; two sisters-in-law, Ima Ruth Burnham and Jennie Beth Burnham; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, John, Ted, Robert, Haynes and Bill Burnham; and two sisters, Cynthia and Rebecca Burnham. The family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Childrens Home.
