Cleanliness isn’t always the first thing that catches someone’s eye when they visit Brady and the Heart of Texas. Now that a newly-organized clean-up committee, “The Best for the Heart of Texas,” has been organized that unsightly draw will hopefully become a thing of the past. The organization’s first meeting wasdue to be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall. All citizens interested in positive change for McCulloch County and its many communities were invited to attend the meeting. Heart to Home is a safety and beautification programed developed by United Support Services and organized by The Best for the Heart of Texas. The newly-formed safety and beautification program for McCulloch County will target positive change for the residents. Another goal is to boost economic growth in the county. The program is directed by Sheila Hemphill, executive director of The Best for the Heart of Texas. Although funding for the organization to operate properly has yet to be determined, Mrs. Hemphill remains optimistic that “a number of grants are out there” for clean-up/beautification organizations. In addition, she hopes to solicit funds from area businesses and private donations. “The program’s mission is to improve the safety and quality of life for our neighbors and community through the giving of our time, labor and gifts,” said Mrs. Hemphill. “We invite everyone to share their talents and abilities to service the needs of our cities while improving the environment for current and future residents. “Our vision is to have individual’s lives be positively impacted by the physical removal of trash, abandoned building and various debris.” The program is being organized as a way of encouraging people to make a difference in their own lives as well as the lives of their neighbors and community by giving of themselves to help others. Coordinators hope to educate children and the community on the importance of taking care of their families, their possessions, their homes, schools, neighborhoods and their city, county and state. The first project for The Best for the Heart of Texas will be to install and replace existing trash barrels at Richards Park’complete with a city logo’prior to this year’s annual World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook-Off.
