Pearl Hammer Hazel, 68, of Cherokee, died Thursday, July 31 at her residence in Cherokee. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Mabank. She was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Payne Springs, the daughter of Arnet Hammer and Ruby Chitty Hammer. Through the years of her career, she worked as an accountant for several different companies. She loved people and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the congregation of the Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Mike Hazel and wife, Louise, of Cherokee; two grandsons, Christopher Hazel and Patrick Hazel and wife, Shaina; two brothers, J.W. (Dub) Hammer of Payne Springs and Billy Hammer and wife, Jean, of Kemp; a sister, Arnita Shelton and her husband, Jerry of Ben Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
