‘Social’ to honor District Governor and wife

The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, July 22 at 12 noon at the Caf’ on the Square. President Brad Bowen reminded the members that there will be a “social” on Monday at 8 p.m. at the Caf’ on the Square to honor Rotary District Governor Jim Berg and his wife, Ruth. The members voted to give $50 toward a contribution fund for school supplies for children in Mexico. This is sponsored by Ruth Berg. Sue Owens, subbing for Charlie Humphreys, introduced Monte Owens who will be the manager of the new Ace Hardware which is owned by the John Keith Company. It is located on U.S. Hwy. 87 South in Brady. Owens said that there will be 15-20 employees and the store will encompass 26,000 square feet. The departments will be sporting goods, nursery, hardware and feeds (no lumber). The plans are to open the first week in August and have a grand opening on Labor Day weekend. Owens said that customer service is their first priority. The $2 bill was won by Mike Schaffner for knowing that the Brady Lake surface water is 2200 acre feet. Program chairman for Tuesday, July 29 is Rotary District 5840 Governor Jim Berg.
