Billy Reeves, 72, of San Saba, died Friday, July 18 in Brownwood. Funeral services were held Monday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at the China Creek Cemetery, with burial following. He was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Pear Valley, the son of William C. Reeves and Mary P. (Faubion) Reeves. He served his country in the United States Army from 1948 through 1951. On Nov. 11, 1951, Billy Reeves and Gloria Jean Snider were married in San Saba where they made their home. He spent 40 years as a tractor mechanic before retiring so he could spend more time fishing. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean Reeves of San Saba; four daughters, Debby Reeves and Terry Reeves, both of San Saba, Barbara Sutton of Houma, La., and Janet Sanderson and husband, Ronald, of San Saba; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kim and husband, Jeremy, of Orange Park, Fla., Billy Sutton and Corey Sanderson, both of San Saba; a great-granddaughter due to arrive in September, Jordyn Alexis Kim; a brother, Harvey Reeves and wife, Dinky, of Brownwood; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters. The family request that memorials be made to the San Saba County Volunteer EMS.
