On Saturday, May 31, at 6 p.m. in the evening, Bethany Anne Childress and Ryan Wade Appleton were united in marriage at the Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas. The bride is the daughter of Jim and Marsha Childress and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harkey of San Saba and Dr. and Mrs. Marvin Childress of Goldthwaite. The groom is the son of Conrad and Jamie Appleton of Rochelle and the grandson of Gusta Mae Appleton and the late E.M. Appleton of Brady and the late Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Harrington of Dallas. Greeting guests was Katherine Bishop, friend of the bride. The ceremony was performed in the Sheppard King Suite and was officiated by longtime friend of both families, Dudley Hall. Escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a strapless ivory gown of Italian silk with a wrap bodice over a vintage lace inset. The lace also accented the full-length skirt. Bonny Childress Hicks served as the matron of honor and Kristen Childress Oliver, sister of the bride and Kym Appleton, sister-in-law of the groom, served as attendants. The bridesmaids wore full-length sage and pink silk gowns and carried fresh bouquets of pink roses. Landry Oliver, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. Serving as the groom’s best man was his brother, Grant Appleton, followed by brothers-in-law of the bride, Mark Oliver and David Hicks. Ring bearer was Lane Oliver, nephew of the bride. Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a formal dinner prepared by the Mansion on Turtle Creek, hosted by the bride’s parents. Wedding and dinner music was provided by classical guitarist, Ernesto Alonzo. After dinner, the three-tiered bride’s cake, accented with pink rose petals, was served following toasts to the bride and groom. The bride is a graduate of San Saba High School and Texas A&M University and is a health care designer for RTKL & Associates Architectural Firm. The groom is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and is currently attending the University of Texas School of Law. After a honeymoon in Paris, France, the couple will reside at their home in Austin.
