The Brady 7-on-7 football team left Thursday for Bryan/College Station to compete in the state tournament. Having qualified for the round robin tournament three out of the past four years, according to James Petty, one of the coaches of the team, this is going to be Brady’s year. “During the meeting we had the other day, the kids were all saying that the past few years just made a name for Brady. Now they are determined to win it all.” Twenty kids in all make up the squad. Petty and Andy McBee are the coaches. The group of kids and a caravan of parents, friends and followers made the trek to B/CS and will watch as the team plays three games in the first round on Friday. “We play at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.” said Petty. “We will be playing Lamarque, Cy Falls and Richardson. Depending on how we do in the first round, we will be part of a blind draw in round two, and we are planning to be in the championship bracket. Who we play on Saturday depends on how the other teams play tomorrow.” Team members include Cole Whisenhunt, Channing Booker, Jeffrey Bierman, Paden Behrens, Jay Behrens, C.J. Villegas, Levi Bandy, Jeremy Ramon, Mackey Crawford, Dustin Tally, Tommy Langseth, Chris Airheart, Luke Conrad, Carter McBee, Jeremy Shields, Lance Owens, Casey Long, Kyle Kastner, Blaine Whittington and Kiel Pilgrim.
