Ovella Ferris left the world on Monday, July 7, to enter the gates of heaven, at the age of 76. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Melvin, Rev. Bobby Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Melvin Cemetery, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Homes. Ms. Ferris was born March 1, 1927, in Pear Valley, to T.C. (Dutch) and Elberta (DuBose) Ferris. She resided in Melvin and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Melvin. She is survived by three daughters, Patsye Faulks, Peggy Collins and Beverly Curry, all of Abilene. She had four grandchildren, Angela DeLeon, Jimmy Dunlap, Chastity Dunlap and Trey Fischer, as well as five great-grandchildren, Austin and Landon Jumper and Paige, Dylan and Brandon Dunlap. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, Billy Joe Ferris, Roy Lynn Ferris, Verna Cook, Nelda Davis and Alda Faye Chalk; many friends and sisters and brothers in the Lord. All survivors will be celebrating her reunion with Jesus.
