Brady city manager Merle Taylor said Wednesday afternoon that electricity was off in many sections of Brady, but that local crews were busily trying to alleviate the problem. Some parts of town were still off as the Standard-Herald went to press Thursday morning. “Several areas where transformers are being replaced are still off,” Derek Gott, a city employee, said at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Taylor said late Wednesday that LCRA crews were helping local electricians repair the transformers. “We had several transformers to be struck by lightning. They have to be replaced,” the city manager said. Taylor also said the city landfill will be open for free dumping of debris from the storm through Saturday afternoon. “Please be sure to secure the limbs well before heading for the landfill. We don’t want to spend time picking up the trash along the highway,” he said.
