Dorothy Crew, 78, of Brady, died Saturday, May 31 in Brady. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels, Rev. Sheldon Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Martin, Jerry Tedder, Steve Byrd, Buzz Roddie, Burt Bratton and Jim Dreycott. She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Fife, to Henry D. Martin Sr. and Dinah (Bell) Martin. She married William R. (Bill) Crew Sr. on Jan. 6, 1943, in Brownwood. She was a secretary and Para Professional at Brady Independent School District for 20 years, retiring in 1985. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brady. Survivors include a son, John M. Crew of New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Janie M. Criswell of Brady and Rita Condron and husband, Thomas, of Brady; a brother, H.D. Martin Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Brady; seven grandchildren, Corey Criswell of Dallas, Charles Criswell of Houston, Amy Barnett of Jasper, and Aaron, Alisha and Allison Condron, all of Brady and Darci Crew of Jasper; great-grandchildren, John Wayne Barnett, Cole Barnett and Cody Barnett of Jasper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; a son, William R. Crew Jr. and a brother, James Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Brady.
