Riders push for motorcycle awareness

May is motorcycle awareness month and motorcycle activists are working to raise awareness of more than just four-wheeled vehicles on the roads of Texas. Wives, husbands, fathers and mothers that go to work and take care of their families just like anyone else ride motorcycles both as primary and secondary modes of transportation.’ Failure to yield the right of way means a ticket at worst for the driver, but for a motorcyclist, it could mean death or if they are lucky, only serious injury or road rash.’ “We are working hard to change the laws to increase the penalties for failure to yield to a motorcyclist, but what we really need and want is for drivers to pay attention,” said motorcycle activist Shelly Stevens. “Please drive safely and share the road.”
