The Lohn Eagles placed three individuals in the regional tennis tournament on April 22-23 at the Hardin-Simmons campus in Abilene. A doubles team of Garrick Doyal and Riley McFarland placed third in the tourney, and just missed advancing to the state meet. Jason Bloomer was fourth in the regional singles division. The twosome defeated Priley- Madison of Grady in the first round, 6-2, 6-3. Then Doyal-McFarland defeated Granados-Granados, 6-4, 6-4 in the second round, before dropping decisions to Lang-Lopez of Miles, 6-1, 1-6, 4-6; and Tunnel-May of Grady, 1-6, 1-6. Bloomer, competing in the boys’ singles event, won his first match, defeating Josh Odam of Rising Star, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, then lost to Dylan Dyer of Newcastle, 0-6, 0-6, and Wil Green, 1-6, 3-6. Others from Lohn who were in the regional meet were Jana Solsbery, Samantha Johnstone, Tanya Swen-son, and Lance Helberg. Solsbery was defeated in the first round by Lauren Hanks of Grady, 1-6, 4-6. Johnstone-Swenson won their first match, defeating Monta-Medina, 6-1, 6-2 then fell to Lindsey Littlecreek and Tifani West of Chillicothe, 3-6, 3-6. Helberg was defeated in the first round by Ray Chavez of Westbrook, 1-6, 1-6.
