Lee Sommerfeld, 91, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Brady, died Wednesday, May 7 in Fredericksburg. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady, Chaplain Lucinda Zesch officiating. Burial followed in the Rest Haven Cemetery. Born June 19, 1911, in Mason County, he was the son of Emil and Bertha (Roos) Sommerfeld. He married Louise Birk Dec. 3, 1938, in Llano. He was a rancher and a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. A rancher at heart, he enjoyed going to cattle auctions, loved outdoors and his pick-up and loved visiting with former ranchers. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce S. Lucas of San Marcos; two grandchildren, Rita Lucas of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Liana Ptomey of Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Addison and Brady Ptomey of Kyle; and former in-laws, Hershel Lucas and Craig Ptomey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; and brothers, Carl and Clarence. Serving as pallbearers were Williard Jordan, Charles Birk, Don Evers, Harold Goehmann, Craig Ptomey, Johnny Madrigal and Leslie Keese. Earl Boothe was an honorary pallbearer.
