Probst, Gage, Stuart exhibit champion animals at major events

Abby Probst, daughter of Mike and Gale Probst of Brady, was the top winner in the market hog “White OPB” Division at the Star of Texas Livestock Show in Austin. Her Breed Champion market hog sold for $900 in the Austin auction. Receiving championship recognition in the scramble heifer shows were Molly Gage and Bo Stuart of Rochelle. Both had received financial support to purchase heifers from the Houston and Austin Shows for their participation in the rodeo’s calf scramble events the previous year. Molly, daughter of Tony and Kay Gage, had the Reserve Champion Hereford Heifer in the Houston Scramble Show. At Austin, Bo followed suit by having the Reserve Champion Santa Gertrudis Heifer. Bo is the son of Glen and Cheryl Stuart. According to County Extension Agent Jerry Kidd, “This has been a very good year for the McCulloch County 4-H & FFA exhibitors at the various shows with over $50,000 received for their projects at the major shows. Unofficially, the end of the Austin show signifies the conclusion of this year’s livestock projects and marks the beginning for next years projects for those families involved. For graduating seniors Jimmy Flores, Mikkie Fullagar, Monica Griffith, Cody Holubec, Casey Kidd, TK Morris, Erica Paniagua, Leslie Ranne, Sarah Smith, Meagan Schaff-ner, Tanya Swenson and Tyler Williams, the end of this show season means the “changing of the guard” to the next strong group of seniors.
