Lou Farmer, 77, of Grandbury and formerly of Brady, died Thursday, April 10 in Fort Worth. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Burial followed at Rest Haven Cemetery. Born June 23, 1925, in Fredonia, she was the daughter of Zephie Farmer and Edna (McCarty) Farmer. She was divorced. Retiring in 1987, she was an inspector for 20 years with Texas State Cosmotology. She was a beautician in Brady for many years and was a member of the First Christian Church. She resided in Granbury for five years and was a former president of the Texas Cosmotology Association. Survivors include a very special companion, Billy Sol Estes of Granbury; her sister’s children which she raised as her own, Mike Shirley of Longview, Melendia Lou Shirley Underwood of Fort Worth and Rhonda Ann Shirley Wall of San Antonio; two sisters, Nelda Blackburn and Rosella Carroll, both of Brady; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four nieces and nephews, Waymon Blackburn of Eudona, Kan., Royce Blackburn of Brownwood, Wanda Lou Ashby of Coleman and Al Carroll of Temple; numerous great nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Boy Farmer; a sister, Avis Shirley; an infant brother; and a brother-in-law, Zane Carroll.
